Mr Me YAGI aka Lil Kesh shared many interesting views about his career, family, educational background and more in a new interview with Punch newspaper.
Keshniro Ololade shared insights about his educational background and that he is currently enrolled at National Open University Of Nigeria (NOUN). He also made mention that his father who happens to be a pastor has been supportive of his music. He also talked about his brainchild YAGI and when he intends to sign new artiste.
See detailed interview below:
Was it your childhood dream to become a music artiste?
I have pretty much been around music all my life, and the love for music has gotten me this far. My dad is a pastor and he owns a church. However, it’s not like I made a conscious decision to become an artiste; it grew on me untill I knew this was what I wanted to do.
What was your dad’s reaction to your decision to become an artiste?
My dad was cool with it. He lets you do whatever you want to do. He feels that whatever his life story is doesn’t have to affect the way his children live their lives. According to what he used to tell me, everybody must live his or her individual stories. He watched me grow from being part of the choir, learning to play drums, and attending music shows. Till now, he gives me all the necessary support and respects my decisions.
Considering that your dad is a pastor, isn’t he bothered by your vulgar lyrics?
Those vulgar songs are basically about me doing my job and he doesn’t interfere. Besides, not all my songs are vulgar. I have recorded songs like
Ishe , Semilore and others. However, the ones that go viral are the ones with vulgar lyrics. I understand my markets, and I know the demography I’m directing my music to, which is the youth and adults. I’m a blunt entertainer, but I consider my fans, and always try to give them what they want. But this year, I decided that I’ll feed my fans with more meaningful songs that will inspire them.
What inspires you to write such vulgar songs?
Most of those songs were not written; we just go into the studio and ‘vibe.’ However, my environment inspires me and it’s not like I deliberately try to be vulgar.
Beyond the stage persona, who is Keshinro Ololade as a person?
I have a dual personality in the sense that I could go into the studio and come up with crazy songs that would entertain people. I could also be home alone relaxing, and listening to soft and mid-tempo songs. Listening to my songs, some people may think I’m a loud and local boy, but they’re usually surprised when they meet me and see that I’m calm and cool-headed. I’m not that outgoing, except if I have to attend events.
What’s your educational background?
I went to a number of primary schools, all in Lagos. I also attended secondary school in Lagos before proceeding to the University of Lagos to study Linguistics. However, I had to defer my admission because of my hectic schedule. Right now, I’ve enrolled at the National Open University, where I’m studying Mass Communication.
Some people believe you came out of nowhere to rise to the top in the music industry. Can you share some of your struggles?
I have always been a hustler. I started my career by attending several talent hunt competitions, and I won some of them which made me quite popular in school. At a point, I was always hanging around studios because I had no money to record songs.

2BABA TOLD ME IT’S HIGH TIME I STARTED SOMETHING – DAMMY KRANE
Everyone heard the news, about Dammy Krane moving in with DMW . The authentic information is that both Dammy Krane and Davido are in partnership; a Usual Suspekt and DMW partnership.
Dammy Krane caught up with HIP TV and explained what transpired between himself and 2baba . The “Ladies” crooner told HIP TV that 2baba gave him a carte blanche to start his own movement. That diffuses any notion that the exit from Hypertek Digital was messy.

Terry G Slaps a Male DJ and All Hell Breaks Loose | Burna Boy Insults & Dehumanizes a Female DJ, and All is Good?
I am most fortunate to belong to a vibrant entertainment industry that is saturated with highly talented individuals who are continuously changing the dynamics of entertainment on both the home front and in diaspora. I am sure, you are too.
However, in the midst of all our fame, glamor, and success, there is an underlying question of professionalism, equality, and respect for one another. I articulate this based off the recent fracas which occurred between the amazingly talented artiste – Burnaboy and one of Chocolate city’s finest DJs –
DJ Lambo.
Watch HERE in case you missed it.
Before you dive any further into this article, let me refresh your memory with the incident that took place between
Terry G and a Male DJ – DJ Phriz (who happens to be DJ Jimmy Jatt’s protégé).
Watch HERE .
#JIMMYJATT’s Protegé last Night as his Song was Turned off due to his ‘Misbehaviour’ on Stage, and efforts to get him off stage proved abortive. Reports had it that the Artiste was ‘very high’ and was hurling Curses at the Audience intermittently, after so much efforts in getting their attention, but to no avail. TerryG uttered statements like: “We go ALL go Hell Fire”, “Ogun go fire una”, “Mother F*ckers”,etc, amidst falling on stage several times, as he tried to give an energetic performance which didn’t turn out well. The DJ(Jimmy’s Protegé- @iDjPhriz) who was said to have been acting under instruction from the show organisers, put off Terryg’s Music and Terryg shouted “Dj Play song”, after a while Started playing #Olamide’s “Take It Outside”-Durosoke. And TerryG was so embarrassed, not knowing how to leave the stage. With the Crowd screaming “Go Away”, “Dey Go”, “Wooo”. TerryG then went on angrily to Dj JimmyJatt’s stand and SLAPPED the #DJ who was playing… #CodedNEWSng. #CN: Uncle Terry, try leave ‘this thing’ na…
A video posted by #CodedNewsNG!...
I hope the two videos you’ve just seen helped put things into perspective. Now let’s take a look at this critically. In Terry G’s incident, he slapped DJ Phriz, a “Male DJ”, on stage based on what he felt the DJ did or did not do right by him. This incident sparked huge outrage in the industry. So much so that the DeeJays Association of Nigeria issued a BAN on Terry G’s musical content(s) across the country. To cut the long story short, it wasn’t until after penning down an Open Apology to the association, was his ban lifted and things returned to normal – or did they?
Now let’s take a look at the case between Burna Boy and Female DJ – DJ Lambo. Apart from the fact that Notjustok.com and many other music websites in Nigeria documented the incident and shared it with site visitors, I haven’t really observed any remorse from Burna Boy for what he felt DJ Lambo did or did not do right by him. Also, there is minimal outrage in the case of DJ Lambo as compared with that of DJ Phriz. My most glaring observation is the fact that the DeeJays Association of Nigeria has not come forth, formally, to issue any kind of consequence(es) for Burna Boys’ action on stage.
Why is that?
Could the fact that it happened to DJ Lambo – a “Female” DJ – have something to do with it? Does that mean her case shouldn’t be taken quite seriously just like her male counterpart? Or maybe, she just might not be a member of the DeeJays Association of Nigeria (which I seriously hope is not the case).
Whatever the circumstance is, you will agree with me that in both isolated incidents, the music artistes involved threw professionalism out of the window when they decided to conduct themselves in such manner. Our understanding that we all need each other in this industry is what will make us a more successful industry. Each entertainment professional, no matter how insignificant you think they are, play a vital role in making sure that we have a vibrant entertainment structure and culture which in turn creates awareness for our type of music in diapora, grow fan-bases, and increase revenue by stimulating more investments in the entertainment sector.
We should also endeavor to incorporate professional courtesy, equality, and respect in all our entertainment dealings (talent alone is just not enough). If you have disputes, it can certainly be resolved in a more civilized manner, rather than resulting in a physical or verbal altercation.

Eleven oil-producing countries, who are not members of the Opec oil cartel, have agreed to cut their output to boost prices.
The group of states, which includes Russia, said on Saturday that they will cut supplies by 558,000 barrels per day.
Opec announced last month that it would be slashing its own production to ease an oversaturated global market.
It is the first time in 15 years that a global pact has been struck.
“I am happy to announce that a historic agreement has been reached,” said Qatar’s Energy Minister, Mohammed Bin Saleh Al-Sada, whose country holds Opec’s rotating presidency.
The agreement was made at a meeting at Opec’s Vienna headquarters.
Opec, the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries, has already committed to halting the supply of 1.2 million barrels a day, starting from January.
Opec said then it was seeking for non-member states to also lower their output, and Russia had signalled it would co-operate.
The moves come after more than two years of depressed oil prices, which have more than halved since 2014, due to a supply glut on the market.
Among the non-Opec countries attending the meeting were Azerbaijan, Oman, Mexico, Malaysia, Sudan, South Sudan and Bahrain.
Opec will also have its next meeting on 25 May 2017 to monitor the progress of the deal.
NEWS: Two Chinese, Nigerians operating fake embassy in Lagos arrested
The police in Lagos have arrested two Chinese nationals and two Nigerians operating a fake embassy at the Ejigbo area of the state.
Liu Honyang, 47, Sun Xinai, 49 , and their Nigerian collaborators, Oriyomi Olawale, 47 and Desmond Chinedu, 25, were apprehended during the raid on their office situated inside Golden Point Hotel and Suite on Duduyemi Street in Ejigbo.
The police said the suspects had conspired and swindled Nigerians who had planned to travel out of the country to seek greener pastures.
The police said it’s Rapid Response Squad acted on intelligence reports from victims which led to operatives lodging in the hotel for nine days to watch and monitor the activities of the suspects.
“On hearing the arrest news, some of their victims, showed up at the RRS’s Headquarters, recounting how they were duped respectively, hence their deportation from Trinidad and Tobago,” the police said in a statement on Sunday.
Adekunle Adefuye, one of the victims, told police investigators that he met the suspects through one of their agents, one Dorcas Sylver.
“She is a daughter to my brother’s pastor in Abeokuta,” Mr. Adefuye said.
“I told her my intentions and zeal to travel to United States of America
