- Promising to improve the educational system in the state, the Masari-led administration charged Charanchi to work for the realisation of the government's plan for education
- Charanchi pledged to discharge his duty as best as he can, adding that the he will be consistent with the provision of the constitution
Governor Bello Masari of Katsina state has sworn in Badamasi Lawal Charanchi as the new commissioner of education, Channels TV reports.

NAIJ.com gathered that the swearing in of the new commissioner is an effort to address the lingering decay of the public education sector in Katsina state.
The state governor charged the new commissioner to change the culture of the huge idle manpower at the education ministry.
Until his appointment, Charanchi was the special adviser to the governor on higher education.
While inaugurating the new commissioner, Governor Masari restated his administration's determination to reposition teachers in the state in order to provide the required quality education.
While taking the oath of office, Charanchi pledged to discharge his assigned duty to the best of his ability in line with the constitutional provision.
It was learnt that the state government is planning to experiment 5000 teachers within the first quarter of the year.

The Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Ikeji Arakeji, Osun state has announced that it has offered partial scholarships to all students of the institution.

The Punch reports that those in religious studies are the most favoured in the new scholarship which is in the form of reduction of tuition fees.

Professor Sola Fajana who is the vice chancellor of the institution revealed this new development.

He said the move was made to make education in the school more attractive, especially religious studies.

He said all students will receive 10 per cent reduction in their school fees.

Fajana stated: “ There will be 15 percent school reduction for parents who have two students in our school, 20 percent reduction for students who are members of the Christ Apostolic Church, while members of staff of the institution who are students will have their school fees reduced by 15 percent.

“There will be 40 percent discount for non-CAC students studying religious studies, while pastors or wives of pastors studying religious studies will enjoy 60 percent discount in their school fees.

“C.A.C students studying religious studies will have 50 percent discount in their fees.”

“We have resolved to make living on our campus more conducive and comfortable for our students, and we want to be known as the go-to place for our immediate and remote communities to have their problems solved."

Meanwhile, respected British-Nigerian Hollywood actor, David Oyelowo, announced via a post on his Instagram page that he will sponsor the education of five Nigerian girls who survived the Boko Haram insurgency in the northeast.

Oyelowo said that it is important that the girls embark on the journey toward their true destiny, having managed to overcome the effects of the Boko Haram attack.
