**Buhari Sends Atiku To Lobby Zuma For Adesina
President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, has sent former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar as his emissary to South African President Jacob Zuma to lobby for the candidacy of Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, as president of the African Development Bank.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Atiku Media Office in Abuja on Saturday.
According to the statement, Abubakar’s shuttle diplomacy is to shore up the much-needed support for the Nigerian candidate.
The statement explained that this follows a mandate from the President-elect to the former Vice-President to leverage on his contacts to lobby for the emergence of Adesina.
Buhari, who backs the candidacy of Adesina, had last month conveyed his support to the President of Ghana, John Mahama, when the two leaders met in Abuja.
The statement said Atiku travelled with Adesina to South Africa during the weekend, where the two met with President Zuma at the Presidential Residence in Durban. cut in for more stories.........
***Steer Clear Of Party Administration, PDP Warns President’s Associates, Aides
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a very stern warning to those it describes as ambitious aides and associates of President Goodluck Jonathan, whom it said are trying to use their closeness to the President to cause crisis in the party and pave way for more defections to other parties.
The NWC in a statement signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh said it is “aware of the clandestine activities of such aides and associates of the President including their unholy alliance with some elements in other parties to undermine and weaken the PDP by attacking its leadership and also hijacking the party structure for their selfish purposes.
“Consequently, the leadership of the PDP by this statement is making it very clear that it will no longer condone such divisive actions by the same unscrupulous individuals who in their selfishness ruined the fortunes of our great party in the general elections.
“The NWC will no longer tolerate actions that tend to undermine discipline and the supremacy of the party and its constitution, as it will henceforth not hesitate to apply full disciplinary measures for infractions
***APC Lawmakers Allege kidnap Plot By Fayose
The 19 All Progressives Congress lawmakers in Ekiti State House of Assembly have alleged that Governor Ayodele Fayose wants to use thugs to kidnap them.
They urged the governor to stop trailing them, saying it is evil to also plot to take their families out of circulation in order to force them to stall the impeachment move against him.
The lawmakers said the latest move on their kidnap plan had exposed the insincerity of the governor in calling a truce meeting last week to seek an end to the Ekiti State House of Assembly crisis.
But Fayose described the allegation as “one of the usual false rants of people afraid of their own shadows.”
The lawmakers in a statement by Speaker Adewale Omirin’s Special Adviser on Media, Wole Olujobi, said Fayose remained “the main obstacle to peace in Ekiti State,” wondering why a governor seeking peace should be on their trail and planning to kidnap some of them or, in the alternative, seize their children for ransom.
