The House of Representatives has summoned the Secretary to the Bauchi State Government and Chief of Staff to Governor Mohammed Abubakar. They are to appear before the Committee investigating alleged Police intimidation of perceived political enemies of Governor. Special adviser to the Governor on political matters is also expected to make an appearance before the Federal Lawmakers.
The Bauchi state Police Commissioner is back on the hot seat. He is being grilled by Federal Lawmakers at the resumed hearing on the alleged politically motivated harassment and intimidation of supporters of former Governor Isa Yuguda by the Police. The act was said to be at the instance of the State Government but Police Commissioner Zaki Ahmed said he acted to secure the former Governor.
This he says is contrary to claims that he placed Yuguda and his supporters under house arrest on his return from medical vacation.
