Chelsea facing potential two-year transfer ban after FIFA probe into the signing of Bertrand Traore and 13 other young players

Premiership club, Chelsea is facing a potential two-year transfer ban following a long FIFA investigation into the signing of Bertrand Traore and 13 other young players.
According to French online news site Mediapart, one of the organisations publishing the findings of Football Leaks, the unit recommends Chelsea is punished with a fine of £45,000 and an embargo on all signings to cover a total of four transfer windows.
The publication reported that one window relates to Traore and the other three windows involve the 13 other alleged offences.
It was also revealed that officials from FIFA's Integrity and Compliance unit have spent three years investigating Traore's transfer case and 13 other transfers involving the London club and players aged under 18.
The Burkina Faso international who signed his first professional contract in September 2013 after his 18th birthday was picked at the age of 16 in an Under 18 match against Arsenal.
Mediapart also claimed that the football governing body has found evidence to suggest Chelsea misled them regarding the real dates and acted in bad faith over the signing of Traore who officially joined the club in the January 2014 transfer window.
Chelsea on Wednesday night said: 'The club has fully co-operated with FIFA and has provided comprehensive evidence demonstrating its compliance with FIFA regulations. We will not comment further.'
A FIFA spokesman added: 'Investigations were opened concerning Chelsea as well as other English clubs. No further information can be provided.'

Reports: Real Madrid ready to pay €70m to hijack Barcelona transfer deal

What's the rumour?
Barcelona have long been linked with Paris Saint-Germain's Adrien Rabiot, who has also caught the eye of several other European top dogs.
However, a report from Diario Gol now claims that Real Madrid have also entered the fray and might even make a move to hijack Barcelona's target.
If the aforementioned report is to be believed, Los Blancos are willing to cough up an amount as high as €70 million to secure the services of the Frenchman whereas Barcelona are reluctant to fork out €50 million for a player who they could sign for free next summer.
In case you didn't know...
Adrien Rabiot reportedly declined an offer to sign a contract extension with the Parisian club a few days back, which has alerted a number of high-profile clubs, who have set their sights on the talented 23-year-old.
His current contract with PSG runs out in June next year.
The heart of the matter
Adrien Rabiot has emerged as a hot property this summer owing to his consistent showings for Les Parisiens in the seasons gone by. Recently, PSG manager Thomas Tuchel also expressed uncertainty over the France international's future at Parc des Princes despite stating that he wanted him to stay at the club.
I'm not certain he will stay. I want him to stay, but it's up to him. He has great potential and can improve even further. He can become a top player but has to stay with us.
Rabiot would be a fine addition to Real Madrid's squad, particularly following the departure of Mateo Kovacic to Chelsea on a season-long deal. He is an excellent passer of the ball who exudes great confidence when in possession. Besides, Rabiot is also well-known for his offensive contributions as well as defensive stability.

Arsenal are close to securing Alex Iwobi to a new contract.
The Mirror says Iwobi has agreed terms on an improved contract following talks which have been ongoing since the end of last season.
Iwobi's previous deal, signed in 2015, ran until 2020.
But the 22 year-old attacking midfielder is set to extend his stay at Arsenal until 2022 when he puts pen to paper on his new agreement.

The 2018 world cup will forever be a memorable one in the hearts of the most populous black nation, Nigeria as they were eliminated from the tournament by Argentina.
Lionel Messi put a lead in the first half but was leveled by Victor Moses’ superb penalty.
During the game, Nigerian team saw a clear penalty which was not awarded by the referee even after watching the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).
The story could have been a different one if the penalty was awarded but the match ended 2-1 in favor of Argentina after a brilliant strike from the Man Utd defender, R’ojo which saw Nigerian backing out of the tournament.
Nigerians worldwide however felt cheated and they storm the social media to express their anger and lucky enough they were able to fish out his Instagram account where we have been seeing many insulting and derogatory comments by the angered football fans.

Diego Maradona has been treated by paramedics following Argentina’s dramatic 2-1 victory over Nigeria at the 2018 World Cup.
The 57-year-old could be seen being helped from his seat at the St Petersburg Stadium, before collapsing into a chair inside the stadium.
He was immediately attended to by Russian paramedics and ESPN reports that he was transported to a local hospital shortly afterwards
An Argentina source has since told The Independent that the 1986 World Cup winner has been stabilised.
Maradona had earlier been filmed manically celebrating Marcos Rojo’s late winning goal and swearing at supporters and was branded a “laughing stock” by BBC presenter Gary Linker.
As television cameras swung his way, seconds after the ball hit the back of Nigeria’s net, Maradona thrust middle-finger gestures with both hands.
“There’s Diego Maradona celebrating,” said Lineker. “I think he might make the papers for a different kind of celebration, there’s a danger he’s becoming a laughing stock I’m afraid.
“[He’s] let himself down with that celebration. You understand how he’s euphoric, but this kind of reaction… Really, Diego?”
Former England and Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand was also less impressed with Maradona’s antics. “His career as a football player on the pitch was up there with the best,” added pundit Rio Ferdinand.
“Unfortunately there are moments like this that do arise it’s not nice to see that let him down.”

Argentina football stars are to play at Jerusalem’s Teddy Kollek Stadium on Saturday night in a World Cup warm-up match which has attracted Israeli fans, mainly because of world champion, Lionel Messi's planned participation.
But the Palestinians are not happy that the match will be held in Jerusalem and have threatened to burn Messi's shirts.
The Palestine Football Association chief, Jibril Rajoub wrote to Claudio Tapia, the head of the Argentinian FA, last week accusing Israel of using the match as a “political tool”.
“The Israeli government has turned a regular sports match into a political tool. As was widely covered in Argentinian media, the match now is being played in order to celebrate the ‘70th anniversary of the State of Israel’,” part of Rajoub’s letter said.Rajoub declared a campaign against Argentina and particularly Messi, noting he has millions of fans across the Arab and Islamic world, Asia and Africa.
“He’s a big symbol so we are going to target him personally and we call on all to burn his picture and his shirt and to abandon him. We still hope that Messi will not come,” he told reporters after leaving the Argentinian representative office in the West Bank town of Ramallah.The stadium that will host the match is in west Jerusalem. The Palestinians want the eastern part of the city as the capital of a future state that will include the Gaza Strip and the Israeli-occupied West Bank. However, the status of the city generally is highly sensitive.
The match was originally slated to be played in Haifa but Israeli authorities contributed funding for it to be moved to Jerusalem, irking Palestinians further.
This is in the wake of U.S. President Donald Trump’s recognition of the city as Israel’s capital. The U.S. embassy was moved there last month.

All of a sudden there was Cristiano Ronaldo, appearing round the corner, walking on to the stage beneath the Eiffel Tower, clutching a golden ball under his arm. At a glitzy ceremony befitting a man with diamonds in his ears, Ronaldo celebrated his fifth Ballon d’Or award, beating Lionel Messi to the prize and matching his rival’s record haul.
It was expected of course – especially after pictures had emerged of Ronaldo's new Nike boots with 'Quinto Triunfo' (fifth triumph) stitched into them – but the expectation only served as a reminder that one of his most impressive achievements has been to make such impressive achievements seem mundane.
We should never let them. Ronaldo held up a hand with fingers spread to indicate his quintet of Ballon d'Ors, as he matched Messi and extended their era of domination to 10 years. In a time when there are so many talented footballers, when the rewards for reaching the top are greater than ever before, it is astonishing that two men still manage to find a platform above the rest.
“I feel very happy, it’s a fantastic moment in my career,” Ronaldo said, standing with his mother Maria Dolores and his oldest son Cristiano Jr. “I’ve waited a long time for this. This has been a stupendous year for me, we won the Champions League and La Liga and on a personal level I was top scorer in the Champions League.
“Trophies help me win prizes like this and I have to thank my team mates at Madrid and Portugal. They’ve been very important to me.”
The accolade caps another trophy-laden year for the 32-year-old, having spearheaded Madrid’s run to the La Liga title with 25 league goals and claimed the fourth Champions League winners’ medal of his career – a tournament in which he displayed his ruthless goalscoring at its best. Ronaldo scored five goals against Bayern Munich across two legs in the quarter-finals, including a hat-trick at the Bernebeu, struck another hat-trick to knockout Atletico Madrid in the semi-finals and scored twice in the final as Real saw off Juventus 4-1 in Cardiff.
The question of Ronaldo vs Messi is impossible to ignore, but try; that can be tackled in 10 years or so when the dust has finally settled, once they have handed in their final submissions, every goal and trophy accounted for, and besides, you've already made up your mind anyway. More pertinent is to wonder just how long they can last alone on that platform?
Neymar finished third and surely he is a only a Champions League or World Cup triumph away from usurping the pair of them, providing he plays a pivotal role which he surely will. And then there is his teenage team-mate, Kylian Mbappe. He was ranked seventh and the same metrics for Neymar's potential rise to the top can be used for the electric French talent. Perhaps Messi and Ronaldo can reach six, maybe more, but their reign feels more precarious than at any stage since 2010 when Ronaldo slipped down the rankings to sixth.
Whether all of this matters in a team sport is perhaps the third question, and the truth is both yes and no. No, because it is and always will be about the best team and the trophies they win. But yes, obviously yes, because we love it and, try as we might, we cannot resist the storylines that the individuals create, the contrasting personalities to latch on to. Nor should we.
Onlookers from the Premier League might query how the nation with five teams currently residing among Europe's elite 16 clubs could trouble the scorers so little. Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante was the highest ranked player in eighth at the end of a year in which he claimed his second league title, and Harry Kane was rated as the best English player, finishing 10th in the overall rankings having ended the 2016-17 season as the Premier League’s top goalscorer. Continued Champions League success might yield better results in 2018.
Now it is Ronaldo's time, for the fifth time, and you sense there is still more to come before this incredible era finally ends.
