Pharmaceuticals Fund and Supply Agency of Ethiopia is going to dump 69 million condoms due to poor quality.
Laboratory tests have shown that the condoms which were purchased with two million US dollars obtained from Global Fund had quality problems, said Food, Medicine and Health Care Administration and Control Authority.
Meskele Lera, Director General of Pharmaceuticals Fund and Supply Agency noted that works are underway to make the supplier agency reimburse the money and cover all costs in the discarding process.
Ethiopia makes strong quality check on condoms before they are marketed and this will continue, he noted.
