University of Jos is sticking to 180 as Institutional cut off point Says University Don

University Don  says that university of Jos is sticking to one hundred and eighty as institutional cut off point  as prerecusite for the 2017  post Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination UTME test to be conducted soon in the Institiution
In an exclusive interview,the University Don who is the deputy vice chancellor academics in the university of jos,professor Nelson Ochekpe posits that inviting  candidates who scored one hundered and twenty to write post UTME in the university of Jos is mere exploitation and deceit as the Institution is highly subscribed.
                            
According to professor Ochekpe,though vice chancellors,rectors,provosts and other key stakeholder in Nigeria higher institutions were present at the meeting that birthed the cut off points of 120 for Universities,100 for polytechnics ,he said the meeting was at the instance of JAMB as policy maker.
     He went further to explain that course cut off points will also differ this according to the deputy vice chancellor is determined by the number of students who applied for the course and their scores.
It would be recalled that the announcement of the new cut off points had generated a lot of controversies, while some think it will lead to further decline in the ranking of Institutions in Nigeria others say it will create room for candidates who already have the required number of credits to secure admission into the higher institutions.
Worthy of note is that it was also agreed at the meeting that the various institutions  can give their various institutional cut off points..
