Buhari's Spokesman Reveals Why There's Delay in Appointing Ministers

By Unknown - Saturday, June 27, 2015

President Buhari's spokesman, Mallam Garba Shehu, yesterday disclosed that the appointment of ministers is not topmost in the president’s agenda at the moment.

Shehu said the ministerial appointments would be made, but Nigerians have to wait until the process of evolving a corrupt free society has gathered momentum as the President is more concerned about stamping out insecurity and  and corruption from the country.

Speaking he asked, “As it is now, is there any lacuna? Are you thinking there is any gap that is not being covered by the bureaucrats?

There is nothing that is not being covered as the president currently works with the Permanent Secretaries who are part of most meetings.

"Nobody is saying that it is not important to make political appointments. He will make appointments but as he has said himself, he wants to scrutinize and make the right kind of appointment."

"He doesn’t want to appoint one today and make changes tomorrow."

"Given this war for the recovery of stolen funds, doing that will have implication for the people who are going to be appointed. If he appoints you today and may be in the drive, you are implicated, he will fire you," Garba Shehu said.
